Introducing the James Bond Oddjob Bowler Hat, part of the 007 x Lock & Co. limited edition collection.
60 years of James Bond style combines with Lock & Co.'s 346 year hat-making heritage, cementing a long-standing relationship between the two British brands. Designs are inspired by the past and present, referencing archive hats from the series, and will be released throughout 2022.
Details. This distinctive square-top bowler hat pays homage to the original design made by Lock & Co. for Oddjob actor Harold Sakata in Goldfinger. Made in a limited series, this collector's piece is crafted by hand in the traditional way with a highly breathable internal leather sweatband, a black mourning band and finished using black Escorial wool. The particularly fine quality of wool comes from a rare sheep breed founded by King Philip II of Spain in 1584. Escorial fabrics have a beautiful handle, often being mistaken for cashmere or vicuna and wear like a second skin with a comfort and performance like no other. The heart of the fibre has a naturally coiled spring known as the ‘helical crimp’, delivering bounce and resistance to compression. It is this curly attribute that delivers suppleness and fluidity, lightness with amazing durability and crease resistance.
Dimensions. Square crown H12.5cm, brim W5cm
Care. Keep stored in a hat box away from direct sunlight. To clean, steam and brush with a hard bristle hat brush to remove dust and dirt, brushing the hat using short strokes, following the natural direction of the fibre. If wet, dry away from direct heat, using a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge.
The makers. Established in 1676, Lock & Co. is the oldest hat shop in the world, the oldest shop in London and one of the oldest family-owned businesses still in existence. Founded by James Lock, the company is now run by the 7th generation of the family from the shop at No. 6 St. James’s Street, London and holds two Royal Warrants.
